Position Summary

We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to join our team as STEM Facilitators. This part-time position involves leading engaging classes in science, technology, engineering, math, robotics, coding, and related areas. The ideal candidate is someone who can spark excitement about STEM through creative, project-based learning and who enjoys working with students in a mixed-age, homeschool environment.

STEM classes at The Learning Loft are not lecture-based—they are hands-on, dynamic, and inquiry-driven. Facilitators are encouraged to bring their own ideas and expertise to the classroom, with full support from our team in terms of scheduling, materials, and curriculum development.


Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly or bi-weekly STEM classes for students in elementary through middle school

  • Design engaging, age-appropriate projects and activities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all learners

  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of mixed-age or multi-level classrooms

  • Communicate clearly with students, parents, and staff

  • Collaborate with The Learning Loft team on scheduling and curriculum planning

  • Set up and clean up classroom spaces and materials as needed


Qualifications

  • Background in science, engineering, technology, or a related field

  • Experience working with children or leading educational activities (teaching certification not required)

From drawing and painting to digital media, sculpture, textiles, photography, and mixed media, facilitators help students discover their creative voice while building foundational art skills.

Facilitators at The Learning Loft are more than instructors—they’re creative guides who inspire exploration and support each student’s unique artistic journey. Whether you’re introducing color theory, guiding students through a printmaking process, or leading a collaborative mural project, your role is to make art approachable, meaningful, and fun.

Located in Baton Rouge, we offer a wide range of enrichment classes—from STEM and humanities to arts, language, and movement—serving learners across age levels in a flexible, nurturing environment.


Position Summary

The Learning Loft is seeking a Deaf ASL Facilitator to lead engaging, age-appropriate American Sign Language classes for students of all ages and varieties. We believe deeply in authentic language and cultural representation and are committed to creating a space where Deaf voices lead the way in ASL education.

Classes focus on hands-on, immersive learning through games, movement, storytelling, and interactive activities. Facilitators will have the opportunity to create or adapt lesson content with full support from our team.

🕒 Flexible Scheduling: Classes may be scheduled any day of the week between 8 AM and 8 PM, and we will build the schedule around your availability.

👤 This position is open to Deaf applicants only. We are seeking a native or fluent signer who is excited to share ASL and Deaf culture with students in a supportive, inclusive environment.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support facilitators (teachers), ensuring alignment with The Loft’s mission and values

  • Oversee daily facility operations: opening/closing, cleanliness, supplies, safety, maintenance coordination

  • Act as on-site point person for students and families: resolving issues, answering questions, building rapport

  • Manage scheduling, classroom assignments, and staff coverage

  • Oversee registration, enrollment, attendance records, and student files

  • Communicate regularly with the Founder and assist in implementing policies and procedures

  • Support event planning, staff onboarding, and parent communications

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and request reorders as needed

  • Uphold safety protocols and ensure compliance with relevant regulations


Qualifications

  • Must be Deaf or hard of hearing

  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Comfortable working with children ages 4+ as well as adults in small group settings

  • Ability to lead interactive, hands-on lessons in a visually engaging way

  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and community

  • Prior teaching, tutoring, or youth program experience is a plus, but not required

  • Reliable, creative, and committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
