Code of Conduct

The Learning Loft is dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for all scholars. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for everyone to ensure a positive and supportive community where each scholar can thrive. By joining The Learning Loft, scholars agree to uphold the following values.

Respect for All

Every scholar is expected to treat others with kindness and respect. This includes using polite language, listening to others’ ideas, and honoring each person’s right to learn without interruption. Respect extends to facilitators, peers, staff, and all visitors at The Learning Loft.

Inclusivity and Kindness

The Learning Loft is a welcoming space for scholars of all backgrounds, abilities, and beliefs. Scholars are encouraged to be inclusive, supportive, and open-minded. Acts of kindness and cooperation help build a sense of community and belonging.

Responsibility and Integrity

Scholars are responsible for their actions, behavior, and materials. This means coming prepared, following instructions, and taking care of personal and shared resources. Integrity and honesty are core values, and scholars are expected to complete their own work, respect others’ efforts, and admit mistakes when they occur.

Safety First

Scholars must prioritize safety at all times, respecting the rules and guidelines of each activity or area. This includes handling materials with care, following safety instructions in labs or activity spaces, and informing facilitators or staff of any potential hazards.

Growth Mindset

Learning is a journey, and mistakes are part of the process. Scholars are encouraged to embrace challenges, ask questions, and seek help when needed. A positive attitude toward learning fosters resilience and success.

Respect for Environment

Scholars are expected to maintain a clean, organized, and respectful environment. This includes putting materials back in place, cleaning up after activities, and treating The Learning Loft’s facilities, equipment, and resources with care.

Digital Responsibility

For activities involving technology, scholars are expected to use devices responsibly, only for learning purposes. Digital respect includes keeping online interactions positive, safeguarding personal information, and respecting others’ digital work.

Positive Communication

Scholars should use words and actions that promote a positive, encouraging atmosphere. This includes listening to others, avoiding negative language, and handling disagreements calmly and respectfully.

Consequences for Misconduct

If a scholar does not adhere to this Code of Conduct, appropriate steps will be taken, which may include a reminder, a conversation with a facilitator, or, if necessary, a meeting with the scholar and their guardian. Our goal is to guide scholars toward positive behavior and foster an environment where everyone can learn, create, and grow together.

Thank you for helping us make The Learning Loft a welcoming and respectful community for all!
